Can Adventists Be Freemasons? A Short Response

A recent article from Adventist Today asks, “Can Adventists Be Freemasons?“, and sadly, the retired pastor who wrote it won’t give the only biblical answer: No.

Freemasonry, whether it has been modernized or softened down, is still a secret society under the umbrella of the Vatican Jesuit Order on hidden oaths, allegorical rites, and a universal view of God that is completely different from what the Bible says. Such elements alone violate Christ’s teaching, who said: “In secret have I said nothing.” John 18:20. No amount of charity work or good manners will clean up a system founded on spiritual confusion.

The article tries to soften this reality by praising the character of some Masons and saying that membership is a harmless personal choice. Interestingly, the same pastor also wrote in 2010 and openly denied the three angels’ message, giving you a hint about his true color. When God condemns something, we can’t “tone it down” so that society will accept it.

Ellen White strongly warned against joining secret societies, because the Bible repeatedly forbids divided loyalties, hidden oaths, and spiritual alliances with darkness.

“Those who stand under the bloodstained banner of Prince Immanuel cannot be united with the Free Masons or with any secret organization. The seal of the living God will not be placed upon anyone who maintains such a connection after the light of truth has shone upon his pathway. Christ is not divided, and Christians cannot serve God and mammon. The Lord says, “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, … and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” ( 2 Corinthians 6:17, 18).” -Letter 21, 1893. { 2SM 140.1}

When Adventist leaders excuse transgression, apostasy spreads silently and steadily.

This is why the SDA apostasy is getting worse and worse till the end as prophesied. Not only because of open rebellion but also because Adventist voices keep blurring moral lines and rebranding compromise as “balance.”

The truth is simple:

  • Christians cannot unite with Freemasonry.
  • God’s people must reject what God rejects.
  • Spiritual compromise leads to apostasy.

“Our only safe course is to condemn what God condemns, and cherish what he cherishes.” – ST January 13, 1881, par. 12

Let us stand firmly with Scripture, not with secret societies or those who excuse them.

Truth is truth!
