The world is witnessing more and more natural events that should make every sensible person pause. Earthquakes, floods, violent thunderstorms, destructive winds, extreme heat, wildfires, droughts, powerful storms, and other calamities occurring across different parts of the earth.

These events are more than readable headlines. They should serve as a wake-up call to everyone.

Jesus warned:

“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” – Matthew 24:7-8

Christ did not tell His followers to establish a calendar from these events. He told us to watch.

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” – Matthew 24:42

So, the question is not simply, “What is causing these disasters?” The big question is, “What is God saying to the world through them?”

The world is becoming more unstable. Scientists are observing significant changes in weather patterns and El Niño conditions.

In June 2026, the World Meteorological Organization reported an 80% probability of El Niño in the tropical Pacific from June to August and a 90% probability from September to December. The organization warned that El Niño can impact global temperatures, rainfall patterns, and increase the danger of extreme weather.

On August 12, 2026, Typhoon Dolphin caused major floods and widespread disruption in China. Besides China, this super typhoon directly impacted Japan and Taiwan. In the Philippines, it triggered widespread flooding and landslides causing substantial agricultural damage. In fact, three storms strike Asia in a week battering millions.

Meanwhile, Europe, has been experiencing another season of severe heat, drought, wildfires, and extreme temperatures. The World Meteorological Organization has described extreme heat events as becoming more frequent, intense, and prolonged.

Recent strong earthquakes were also reported around the world impacted Columbia, Mexico, Japan, Philippines, India, and Sound Sandwich Islands.

However, we should not assume that climate change causes every earthquake, thunderstorm, flood, or hurricane. Different calamities have different physical causes. But satellites, thermometers, or computer models cannot measure the spiritual meaning of these things.

We must not be surprised by this these increasing trouble. Jesus said these things would come “in divers places.” Luke 21:11 “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:28

Our response to calamity should therefore be different from that of the world. The world sees catastrophe. The Christian sees a call to preparation.

These calamities should awaken the conscience and produce repentance, just like when the people of Nineveh heard the warning of impending judgment, “they turned from their evil way.” Jonah 3:10 That is the point. So, we should ask ourselves now:

• Am I right with God?
• Have I repented of my sins?
• Am I obeying God’s Word?
• Am I ready for the coming of Christ?
• What occupies my heart?
• What am I living for?

We are warned:

“More and more, as the days go by, it is becoming apparent that God’s judgments are in the world. In fire and flood and earthquake He is warning the inhabitants of this earth of His near approach. The time is nearing when the great crisis in the history of the world will have come, when every movement in the government of God will be watched with intense interest and inexpressible apprehension. In quick succession the judgments of God will follow one another—fire and flood and earthquake, with war and bloodshed.” 9T 97.1

That is a solemn thought. The calamity itself is not the gospel. The warning is the gospel opportunity.

• The disaster says: Wake up.
• The flood says: Life is fragile.
• The earthquake says: You are not in control.
• The storm says: This world is not permanent.

And the Word of God says: “Prepare to meet thy God.” Amos 4:12

Yes “the calamities are here” but it does not mean we should set dates for Christ’s return as Jesus specifically warned us against such presumption: “But of that day and hour knoweth no man…” Matthew 24:36 So, the signs are telling us that we must be ready today!

It’s true that scientific investigation has an important place and that governments have a legitimate responsibility to protect people from disasters. Better forecasting, emergency preparation, flood control, infrastructure, and responsible stewardship can save lives. But true Christians must recognize that a legitimate concern can also become a vehicle for a larger ideological or religious program. So we must distinguish between caring for God’s creation and using environmental crisis to establish religious or political authority by connecting ecology with moral and social questions. Those are not necessarily the same thing.

But the Vatican is actively connecting ecology with moral and social questions. It openly teaches that environmental concerns have a moral and social dimension.

In June 2026, Pope Leo XIV told the Austrian World Summit that sustainability, integral ecology, and care for creation have been concerns for decades, and he described the environmental crisis as having an ecological aspect connected with the broader socio-economic crisis. His statement is consistent with the broader Catholic environmental framework associated with Laudato Si’.

The Vatican has also reported Pope Leo’s encouragement for those working in the Laudato Si’ movement and for an “integral ecology.”

Furthermore, Pope Leo XIV’s 2026 encyclical Magnifica Humanitas explicitly discusses the environmental crisis and cites Laudato Si’ as a major systematic treatment of the environmental crisis within Catholic social teaching.

Therefore, it is reasonable to watch carefully as environmental concerns increasingly intersect with:

• morality,
• economics,
• government policy,
• social responsibility,
• international cooperation,
• religious leadership,
• and questions of human behavior.

And here’s where the danger lies: when society are forced to adopt a religious resolution because of these disasters. But as prophesied, Vatican’s Climate Change agenda is leading to the enforcement of the mark. Satan’s strategy has always involved deception. Instead of looking to God for solution, he will lead the people look to human institutions. Truly, a crisis can become an opportunity for genuine repentance, or an opportunity for increased human control.

God’s message today is much simpler: “REPENT” (Matthew 3:2; Mark 1:15) Repent of your sins while Jesus is still in the Most Holy Place reviewing our books.

This is the answer to a world filled with violence, immorality, greed, disasters, fear, and confusion.

The Kingdom of God is Near. Soon, the probation will close. Jesus is coming again. Are you ready? Are you sure?
