The Abortion Services Act 2024 of Scotland is a law that creates 200-meter “safe access zones” around abortion clinics, and activities within these zones that could cause harrassment, alarm, or distress to clinic staff or patients may be considered offenses. According to the news report on February 27th, the MSP behind this law has confirmed that praying inside your home could be illegal if it can be seen or heard from outside and is done intentionally or recklessly. When I read this news, I remembered the story about Daniel, who continued to pray at home despite a government law made it illegal. Anyone who disobeyed the decree would be thrown into the lion’s den. But Daniel continued to pray to God three times a day, with the windows open toward Jerusalem. When his enemies saw him praying, they reported it to the king, leading to Daniel being cast into lion’s den as punishment. But he was miraculously saved from the lions thanks to his unwavering faith in God, even in the face of death. You can read the story in Daniel 6.

Yes, religious freedom and expression are under attack in different forms, including China, Russia, France, Saudi Arabia, Africa, and India as published by Pew Reseach. In fact, there were 70 Christians found beheaded inside a Church in Congo, recently.

Just as Satan used the government authority to try and force God’s people to break God’s law in the past, we see similar patterns are growing today. This has resulted in persecution of true Christians because they keep God’s law and will oppose man’s law, which will be enforced soon, as prophesied. Nevertheless, there is no need to be ashamed if a Christian is persecuted for his faith, because it is for God’s glory.

• 1 Peter 4:16 says, “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

Remember: God’s grace is sufficient for you! Are you willing to suffer for Christ’s sake? Are you sure?!
