Interior Minister Arye Dery announced on Thursday that starting next year, joining the biometric database will be obligatory.
“From now on anyone obtaining a document from the Interior Ministry, whether an ID card or a passport, will receive a biometric one. We’ve decided on having this database and we’ll soon decide what will be included in it,” Dery said at a ceremony marking the millionth person to join the biometric database, which was held at the new Population and Immigration Authority office in south Tel Aviv. NEC Tests Out Biometric Payments in Tokyo
NEC Corporation is testing out a biometric payment solution at its main office building in Tokyo.
It’s based on facial recognition, linking individuals’ faces to their payment information. In a trial project that started at the end of last month and is expected to run until the end of August, NEC employees are paying via face scan at small shops in the building of its head office in the city. ‘Currency Crash’ Drives British Pound To A 31 Year Low As Deutsche Bank Sinks To The Lowest Level Ever
The fallout from the Brexit vote continues to rock the European financial system. On Wednesday, the British pound dropped to a fresh 31-year low as confidence in the currency continues to plummet. At one point it had fallen as low as $1.2796 before rebounding a bit. As I write this, it is still sitting at just $1.293. Meanwhile, the problems for the biggest banks in Europe just continue to mount. At one point on Wednesday Credit Suisse hit an all-time record low, and German banking giant Deutsche Bank closed the day at an all-time record closing low of 12.93. Overall, Europe’s Stoxx 600 Bank Index closed at the lowest level in almost five years. What we are watching is a full-blown financial meltdown in Europe, but because it is not personally affecting them yet, most Americans are not paying any attention to it. Continue reading
Obama advances stealth plan to pass TPP
NEW YORK – The Obama administration is betting on a stealth plan to secure final passage of the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP, before Obama leaves office by pushing the bill through Congress in the “lame duck” session between Election Day Nov. 8, and Jan. 6, 2017, the date the new Congress is sworn in, despite growing voter opposition that now has Hillary Clinton joining Donald Trump in opposing the bill.
Tactically, the Obama administration has decided to postpone a TPP vote until after the election, concerned that pushing TPP passage now would risk damaging Clinton’s chances, given her enthusiastic support for TPP during her tenure as secretary of state. Continue reading

Should a doctor be allowed to end a patient’s life by painless means if the patient requests it? In the 1940s and 1950s, most Americans thought the practice should be illegal, but now 69 percent say it should be legal, according to a new study.
As many as 69 percent in the U.S. say physicians should be allowed to end patients’ lives by painless means, and 51 percent say they would consider ending their own lives if they personally had a disease that could not be cured and they were living in severe pain, a new Values and Beliefs poll by Gallup found.

Rejected by U.K., Europeans to seek ’empire’?
“WASHINGTON – Now that the European Union will be losing the United Kingdom as a result of the Brexit vote, concerns are growing that the E.U. is seeking to expand intercontinentally with the aim of establishing an “empire.” A week after the British vote on June 23, E.U. Vice President Federica Mogherini released a document outlining the union’s plan for expansion,“A Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign And Security Policy,” raising some eyebrows in foreign policy circles. Not only does the document suggest the possible formation of an E.U. army, it explores expanding the multi-state entity into Asia and Africa. It even envisions a global government. “We will invest in regional orders, and in cooperation among and within regions,” Mogherini wrote in the foreword. “And we will promote reformed global governance, one that can meet the challenges of this 21st century.” –Source

Revenue Canada forbids Unitarians from working for justice
“One of Canada’s most venerable religious charities has been told by the Canada Revenue Agency that it can no longer work for justice in the world. Agency officials conducting a political activities audit on the Canadian Unitarian Council said the broad statement in the council’s bylaws is too vague. “Vague purposes are ambiguous and can be interpreted in many different ways,” the agency said in a compliance letter, which includes other demands more than a year after the audit was launched. …Many charities targeted by CRA’s political activity audit program, begun in 2012 under the Stephen Harper government, had expected relief from the Liberals, who campaigned on a promise to set charities “free from political harassment.” …”I do wish that the government would stop these audits, like, right now,” said Ng. “It has cost me many, many, many hours of work. … It has also cost us a lot of money that we haven’t budgeted for.” …Of 38 completed audits so far, only one found no problems. Just so you know, the charitable foundation or “Canadian Unitarian Council” is set up by the government in Canada in similar fashion to the United States 501c3 contract wherein all the disobedient pastors of the nation signed unto since 1954 which then became law in 2007 under the second Bush administration.
