The Real Cry of Creation

Pope Leo XIV spoke at the U.N. COP30 climate summit recently, lamenting that God’s creation is crying out in floods, droughts, storms and relentless heat,” and called for stronger political will to combat climate change. While his message may sound compassionate, but a deeper, biblical truth express a very different reality.

1. Climate Change Is Not a New Phenomenon

The Bible says that the climate has always changed. In Genesis 8:22, God declared that, “while the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” This assures us that natural cycles of weather –hot and cold, dry and wet– are part of God’s design.

So, when the pope talks about climate change as if it were a new crisis, he’s ignoring what the Bible already affirms: creation has always shown change, and God keeps it going through changing seasons.

2. Why the Earth “Criest Out”: Sin, Not CO2

The Bible says that there is more important reason for earth’s suffering than mere carbon emissions or political inaction. In Isaiah 24:4-6, the prophet declares:

“The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.”

The main problem here is moral failure, people breaking God’s law, abandoning divine statues, and breaking covenant with Him. Similarly, Hosea 4:1-3 describes how wickedness in society, lying, idolatry, and bloodshed make the land itself cry out, suffer, and pain.

In other words, the earth’s groaning is not just environmental. It’s moral. It’s a reaction to sin.

3. Natural Calamities as Signs, NOT Just Warnings

These disasters are not just ecological emergencies, they are biblical harbingers of Christ’s return. The changes in nature point to a larger spiritual crisis, calling people to repent and be ready to meet Jesus. The earth’s distress is a loud call for us to examine our hearts, turn from sin, and prepare for the divine judgment and restoration to come.

4. When the pope talks about climate change as primarily a political or environmental issue, there’s a risk: diversion. By focusing on political solutions, he is diverting attention from the deeper, biblical issue of sin. More than that, this narrative will be used as a way to push for global religious or political control, for instance, pushing laws (including Sunday laws) under the guise of climate justice.

From a prophetic viewpoint, this could tie into the mark of the beast, a false religious-political system enforcing laws that align with, but do not originate from, God’s commandments. The Vatican is making people less resistant to an agenda that ends in forced worship structures by changing the narrative to climate alarmism.

5. What Should The Christians Do?

  1. Repent – Recognize that the earth’s suffering is not just a technical problem, but a moral one.
  2. Pray – Ask God for revival, both in your own life and in the lives of others, that we might return to His ways.
  3. Stand Firm – Be discerning about global agendas, especially when religious leaders push for political measures in the name of “saving the planet.”
  4. Proclaim Hope – Remind others that Jesus is coming. The earth’s groaning is not meaningless, it’s part of God’s prophetic fulfilment.

In short, Pope Leo XIV’s call for climate action may sound good, but it misses the point from biblical perspective. The earth is not simply an eco-victim, it’s groaning under the weight of human sin. These natural disasters are not just warnings about how hot is is getting, in fact, the earth is actually cooling that’s why the UN reported they have global cooling watch 2025. Another proof that climate change is just an invention of the Vatican. Yes, these natural disasters are the voice of God to repent, get ready, and be ready for Christ’s return. The remnant of her seed must not be diverted by political agendas; instead, we should focus on the gospel, the law of God, and the present truth that leads us back to Him.

Truth is truth!
