A Line Crossed: When the Pulpit Becomes Platform – SDA Apostasy continues

Two Sabbaths ago, the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harlem opened its pulpit to Zohran Mamdani—a Muslim, a self-declared socialist, and the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City. Many Adventists who still believe to the biblical principle of separation between church and state are alarmed by his campaign-oriented appearance.

This goes beyond politics and interfaith dialogue. It’s about the sacredness of the Sabbath and the pulpit. When a church invites a political candidate, especially one whose worldview differs sharply from biblical foundations, to speak during sacred hours shows more than hospitality. It signals compromise and deep apostasy, and leads to acceptance of the mark of the beast..

Biblical Principles are Broken

The Bible is clear: “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21). Adventism was founded to oppose the mingling of civil power with religious authority. Ellen White warned repeatedly of the dangers of political entanglement and ecumenical compromise.

Allowing a politician to speak on Sabbath worship is to blur the lines God Himself has drawn. It confuses the mission of the church, which is to proclaim the everlasting gospel with clarity and power, not endorse politicians or ideologies.

Apostasy in Plain Sight

This event is not isolated. It follows a worrying pattern of SDA church apostasy doctrinal decay and cultural accommodation. From ecumenical alliances to social justice redefinitions that ignore the three angels’ messages.

The invitation to Mamdani symbolizes of a deeper apostasy—a willingness to give up prophetic identity for political gain. And as Revelation 18:4 pleads, “Come out of her, my people,” the call grows louder. It’s time to separate from corrupt systems that no longer uphold the pillars of truth.

What Should We Do?

This last call is a call of mercy. The church is not the building or the institution; it is the body of believers who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.

Let us not be found asleep while Babylon’s wine is being poured into Adventist chalices. The hour is late. The trumpet must give a certain sound.

Truth is truth!
