LOWER POTTSGROVE >> Internal emails provided to The Mercury reveal that the person who complained about prayer in the invocation and benediction at last year’s Pottsgrove High School graduation was Rick Rabinowitz, then a board member and currently the board president.
The revelation comes as the district moves closer to a June 7 public meeting on the issue and as differences of opinion in the community are rampant, along with divisions among board members, past and present.
Perhaps the most notable of these was board member Bill Parker remarking that the words “bigot” and “racist” could be associated with comments Rabinowitz has posted as the debate unfolded on Facebook. Continue reading…
DES MOINES, Iowa — Three church-state separation groups are expressing objection to a proclamation issued by the governor of Iowa that urges residents to participate in a statewide Bible reading marathon.
“President Barack Obama defended his decision to open up bathrooms to students of both sexes based on preference, citing his religious faith as a reason he decided to do it. “My reading of scripture tells me that that [the] Golden Rule is pretty high up there in terms of my Christian belief,” he said during a town hall in Elkhart, Indiana.
