Parliament of the World’s Religions Statement on the Homophobic Massacre of LGBTQI Community Members and Allies in Orlando

lgbtqi20blogTo the friends, families, and neighbors of the victims in Orlando: We, the global community of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, are with you.

We are – without qualification – with you. We grieve with you. We feel anger with you. We love you. Our prayers are with you.

To ourselves: We must reclaim a global ethic.

At the closing of the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions, a foundational declaration was released entitled Declaration Toward a Global Ethic, a document that serves as a moral compass guiding the Parliament’s work. It resolutely prohibits hate, discrimination, and murder on any basis as “irrevocable.”  Continue reading…

LGBT activists blame Christians for Orlando attack

nightclub_shooting_florida-jpeg-92b94_c0-131-3300-2055_s885x516“Several prominent gay-rights activists took to social media to blame Christians for Sunday’s massacre at a gay nightclub inOrlando. Chase Strangio, a staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union, on Sunday said the “Christian Right” is implicated in the slaughter by passing “anti-LGBT bills.” –Source

This is how demented and hateful the homosexual mind truly is. Even though Christians had absolutely nothing to do with aMuslim man killing 50 homosexuals and wounding 53 more in a homosexual nightclub, the hatred for Jesus is so deep seated by Satan himself inside the homosexuals he guides, he has been able to twist reality to such an extent that they truly do believe Christians are the reason for the shooting. After all, if he can get them to lust after the same sex, how hard would it be to get them to hate the only people on earth that love them enough to warn them of danger who are also praying for them. Satan hates us that much!  Continue reading…

lgbt-640x480In a recent essay in Salon Magazine, the Reverend Elizabeth M. Edman argues for the power of “queer virtue” to combat “heteronormativity” and revitalize a Christianity that is too wedded to traditional ideas of human sexuality and marriage.

An Episcopal priest and a political strategist, Edman attempts to redeem the concept of “Pride” as central to the LGBT movement and integral to an authentically Christian life.  Continue reading…

Washingtonian Editor: People Shouldn’t Say ‘Start a Family’ Because It’s Offensive

10156703466_3bd21a7900_kBill O’Sullivan, the senior editor of the Washingtonian magazine, wrote in an editorial Thursday that the “loathsome” phrase “start a family” should be scrubbed from the vocabulary because it’s offensive to single people and couples without children.

“What this euphemism means is get pregnant—or try to get pregnant, or have a baby, or adopt,” O’Sullivan wrote in the column. “Start a family devalues any couple who doesn’t happen to have kids, for whatever reason.”  Continue reading…

soell-compressed-701x403GRESHAM, Ore. — A female elementary school teacher who says she neither identifies as male nor female has been awarded $60,000 in a settlement with her school district after she lodged a complaint that her co-workers continued to refer to her as a woman and wouldn’t call her “they.”

However, she did not reveal her feelings to her employers with the Gresham-Barlow School District, who continued to refer to her by her female name and pronoun.  Continue reading…

Man who identified as a woman was allowed in our all-women’s shelter. It was the wrong call

20419103-mmmainIn June 2014, I was admitted to a women’s homeless shelter in Northeast Portland. This was my second attempt to lift myself out of homelessness through the assistance of Transition Projects, which runs the shelter.

Like most of the residents, I was there because I had run out of options. None of us was thrilled about living with as many as 60 other women. Our only task was to make the most of it so we could transition into something better.

A few weeks into my stay, I returned to find a number of women in distress. Reportedly, one woman had even fled the shelter in terror.

What was wrong? What was the uproar about? An answer soon followed: The shelter had admitted a man who “self-identified” as a woman. No doubt this was not a first for the shelter; it was, however, a first for those of us who were relative newcomers.  Continue reading…

A new study finds that Americans are more accepting than ever before of same-sex canoodling. And not only do they think it’s okay — they’re trying it for themselves.

Nearly half — 49 percent — said “sexual relations between two adults of the same sex” was “not wrong at all” in 2014, a team of researchers from Florida Atlantic University, San Diego State University and Widener University found.  Continue reading…
